The Metropolitan Cup quarter final versus Bodenstown, which was played in glorious sunshine on Saturday 2nd July, turned out to be a real humdinger. It was nip and tuck until the last putt was sunk. Cathal ‘The Machine’ Moynihan, ably assisted by caddie Luke Downes, was the hero of the day as he won the deciding match on the 19th hole in Bodenstown.

Lucan won 2 matches at home via Noel Kelly and Michael O’Donovan.

Lucan won 3 matches away. Stephen Dignam and Greg Geoghegan were the other 2 winners in Bodenstown. Both these players had their fathers on their bag. There may be a message there.

The matches were played in a fine sporting spirit and the quality of the golf played by both teams was at times sublime.
